Accomplishments Over 20 Years.

UPCOMING BCAC BREAKFAST CONFERENCE.

· $9.5 million brought to Bridgeport for children’s mental health services through the PARK Project

· Leave No City Behind campaign, seeking equity in state education funding, reached over 1,750 parents, community and business leaders, and public officials and legislators at the local and state level and achieved $60 million in new state bond funding for school construction

· Lead-safe house developed for lead-poisoned children and their families

· Parents mobilized and actively involved in advocating for education reforms

· Healthy Families home visiting program established to reduce child abuse and neglect

· City-sponsored evening recreation programs started for Bridgeport children and youth

· $3.5 million brought to Bridgeport to address the impact of violence on young children through the Safe Start Initiative

· School breakfast program for low-income children started in Bridgeport

· Special Education program changed to be more responsive to the needs of parents and students

· Kith and Kin Project launched that brought training to over 200 informal child care providers

· School bus idling restricted to reduce asthma attacks in children

· Priority access to treatment services provided to pregnant substance abusing women
